2016 - RHS Awards at the Somerset County Cricket Grounds Taunton.
The 2016 RHS awards were made at the Somerset County Cricket Club in Taunton.
This year we were entered into the Champion of Champions class which is the category reflecting "The very best Bloom towns and cities in the South West", irrespective of size. Kingsbridge was awarded a GOLD medal and the RHS Serco cup for community initiative! *** See the KIB Results Sheets Here *** The IYN's (It's Your Neighbourhood) which reflect the 12 areas of the town, where residents take pride and responsibility for their own location also achieved exceptionally good results.

It's Your Neighbourhood
Local Presentation Evening. On the evening of Wednesday November 23rd a presentation of the IYN awards was held at the Regal Bars. The event was attended by 36 people including representatives from 11 of the 12 sites and members of KIB. Dave Dain IYN co-ordinator gave a short introduction about the IYN's thanking everyone for their hard work explaining d how the IYN sites provide a strong backbone for KIB to achieve success in the South West in Bloom competition. Graham Price, Chairman of KIB made the presentation of the certificates and thanked everyone for their attendance. The awards presented were as follows:- 1..Improving: The Friends of Kingsbridge Hospital Garden and The Methodist Church 2..Thriving: Quay Car Park Beds, Windsor Court and Tresillian Nursery. 3..Outstanding: Kingsbridge Cookworthy Museum Garden, The Primrose Line Railway Bridge, Kingsbridge Primary School, Church Street Garden, Saffron Park Gateway, Britton's Field and The Lime Kiln. The local children in the Beavers contibuted to Britton's Field award with the sowing of wild flowers which can be seen in the pictures to the right. The presentation was followed by refreshments, kindly provided by the Regal Bars. Palladium Builders sponsored the event. Dave Dain 2016 IYN Co-ordinator |
