TOWN - PLANTING LIST

Please Note: The planted areas are all subject to renewal and improvements during the coming 2025 season and we will update this as they are renovated and replanted.

1. ROAD SIDE RAILING TROUGHS
Planted annually.

2. EGRET DISPLAY BED
This area was part of the transformation of the town square in 2007 showcasing good
horticultural practice. The bed is divided into two areas segregated by a central wall in the shape of a wave with little egret structures. Egrets may be seen right along the estuary. Every year there is a central theme which is displayed in this area.

3. TUBS
Planted annually.

4. BUS STATION RAILING TROUGHS
Planted annually.

5. INFORMATION CENTRE BED
Located on elevated stone wall behind the Information Centre.   Perennial planting.

6. PYRAMID
Planted annually

7. MEDITERRANEAN BED
Planted in 2023 for climate change using mediterranean style plants.

8. ROADSIDE BED (1), 9. ROADSIDE BED (2), 10. ROADSIDE BED (3)
Perennial planting.

11. ’HOT’ BED
This area was reclaimed land at the northern end of the estuary when the town square was formed. Kingsbridge in Bloom was formed in 2007 to regenerate the surrounds of the square with good horticultural practice and sustainable planting. It continues to evolve with attractive planting.

12. PYRAMID
Planted annually.

13. HAY CART
Donated by Graham Fairweather and renovated by KIB volunteers.
Built by Farr Brothers in East Charleton, Kingsbridge around 100 years ago.
More local rural life history and information aid vailable at the Cookworthy Museum at the top of Fore Street.

14. QUAY COURT BED
Located at the entrance to Quay Court Care Home.    Perennial planting

15. QUAY HOUSE BEDS
Located either side of the entrance to the Town Council offices.
Perennial planting: Cannas, Roses, Geraniums.

16. CAMELLIA BEDS
Located on Ilbert Road opposite petrol station and Rope Walk (as a commemorative
garden). 31 camellias selected and supplied in 2023 by Stretegate Camellia nursery for
variety of height, colour and range of flowering seasons.
